Puppy Preschool in Redland Bay
Puppy preschool is as an important part of puppy ownership as a good diet, vaccinations, and general healthcare. Puppy preschool helps your puppy develop into a well-socialised, confident, and polite member of your family, and provides you with the skills and knowledge to raise a happy and behaviourally healthy dog.
Our classes cover basic training skills, problem behaviour prevention, socialisation, and allow us to identify any potential issues that may need individual attention with a particular puppy. We also discuss how dogs learn, how to set them up for success, and how to read their body language, a very important skill!
Puppy Preschool
The key socialisation period for puppies is 3-16 weeks, so it is important that they join in classes as early as possible. During this period, puppies need to be carefully exposed to a variety of people, animals, and situations in a positive manner. Negative experiences during this critical phase of life will likely develop fearful/aggressive responses to novel situations, people, or animals later in life. Our classes provide interaction with people and puppies in a controlled environment, and teach you how to manage positive interactions on your own.
These classes also provide you with a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have about general puppy ownership such as toilet and crate training, grooming, and preventative health care.
Puppies who attend puppy preschool at the clinic are also more likely to enjoy coming to the vets. To assist this further, one of our classes includes a “pretend vet visit” and a free nail trim!
Our classes are run on Wednesday nights at 6pm, lasting one hour, for four weeks.
